Four of the passengers riding the double-decker bus that tipped over and crashed on Interstate 65 this week are suing the companies that own the bus.
The passengers, Bridgette Humbert, Creighton Mims, Valerie Battle-Dugger and Lennell Sorrels, all of Chicago, claim in the lawsuit that Megabus USA, Megabus Southeast, Coach Leasing and Coach USA were negligent and did not provide a safe driver and enough training to avoid the accident, according to court documents. Coach USA is the parent company of Megabus.
The passengers’ lawyer, Thomas A. Zimmerman Jr., filed the lawsuit in Chicago on Wednesday. Zimmerman said that the four people suffered injuries ranging from a separated shoulder to losing teeth and are being tested for internal injuries.
