Passenger files lawsuit in Jackson Co. Megabus crash

A passenger in the Megabus that crashed in Indiana earlier this month has filed a lawsuit against the company.

The crash happened Dec. 20 between Seymour and Columbus. The bus was on its way to Atlanta from Chicago.

Several people were hurt, but there were no serious injuries.

A woman from Georgia who was injured is suing for $100,000 in damages from Megabus.

“The accounts that we’ve heard from the passengers have been consistent. They have all told us that they felt the driver was speeding and driving too fast for the conditions,” Thomas Zimmerman of Zimmerman Law Office in Chicago told 24-Hour News 8 on Sunday.

Zimmerman also filed a suit on behalf of eight people on a Megabus that crashed in Indiana in October.

In that suit, the passengers claim the company knew their bus was having mechanical problems, but didn’t take it out of service.
